Getting here and Parking
You should allow plenty of time if arriving by car and be aware that once parked, you will be unable to leave the car park until around 10.45am, after the marathon has started. Family Fun Day visitors and spectators may prefer to park in Ambleside and enjoy the 15-20 min walk to the Brathay Estate. The organizers have put a huge amount of effort into making parking and traffic management as smooth running as possible so please follow instructions from their marshals.
As they are not sending out Running Numbers in advance, runners will need to collect these from race registration at Brathay Hall. Your timing chip will be attached to the race number so you should wear your numbers clearly visible on the front of your running top. It is advised to collect your running numbers before race day if possible, to avoid congestion on the day. Race Registration will also be open on Friday 15th and Saturday 16th May between 9am + 7pm.
To make the experience as safe and enjoyable as possible for the runners, around 15 miles are run on traffic-free roads or roads with a dedicated running lane, and some other restrictions will be in place during the event. Details of these temporary road closures will be available here once finalised.
Prizes will be awarded in all age categories and in the past have included watches, stays in local hotels, and vouchers from the main sponsors. Please note that only the 1st place in each category will be awarded at the prize giving ceremony on the day, but 2nd and 3rd place prizes will be available to collect from the event reception.
