The Marathon
Runners in the Brathay Windermere Marathon raises thousands of pounds to help disadvantaged children and young people. On May 16, 2010, it will enter its fourth year as one of the best running events in Europe.
Brathay Windermere Marathon, 16 May 2010
Following a course which is a complete circuit of Windermere, England's largest lake, the Brathay Windermere Marathon takes in Hawkshead, Newby Bridge, Bowness and Waterhead. In 2009, 1000 runners enjoyed the stunning scenery throughout the challenging 26.2mile circuit. We hope for even more runners in 2010.
In association with the marathon there will also be a FREE open day. Spectators and supporters of the marathon, visitors to the area and the local community are invited to Brathay Hall Estate to help support the runners and enjoy a range of entertainment, activities and refreshments. There will be everything from a jazz band, local brewery beer tent, BBQ, high ropes challenge course, canoeing, children's activities and plenty more to keep everyone busy throughout the day.

Starting on 7th May they will run the marathon circuit for ten consecutive days, joining the Brathay Windermere Marathon runners to complete their final circuit on May 16th. One of those runners will be Steve Edwards, returning for his fourth 10 in 10. Steve recently reached his ambition of a world record for 500 sub 3hours 30 minutes marathons - read about his achievement in News.
