Brathay 10 in 10 and Windermere Marathon

The Marathon

Welcome to the Brathay Windermere Marathon, voted the UK's most scenic marathon by readers of Runner's World UK! Each year runners raise thousands of pounds to help vulnerable and hard to reach children and young people. On May 17th 2015 the Beautiful Marathon will enter its ninth year as one of the most distinctive marathons in Europe.

Brathay Windermere Marathon, Sunday 17th May 2015

The marathon starts and finishes in the beautiful grounds of Brathay Hall, at the Northern end of Windermere, England’s largest Lake. Brathay Hall is the home of Brathay Trust, the national charity that inspires children and young people to engage positively in their communities, and the marathon is our flagship fundraising event.

The course takes you through some of the Lake District’s most stunning scenery as you pass through the picturesque village of Hawkshead, towards Newby Bridge at the Southern end of Windermere.  You then head back to Brathay Hall passing through cheering crowds in Bowness and Waterhead. The race ends on the front lawn of Brathay Hall, where a fantastic atmosphere will greet you at the finish line.

  • What runners say

"Everything about this race is fabulous. A location from heaven, wonderful course, so much fun and happiness round the route, encouraging marshals, loads to do and see at Brathay - and all in a great cause to help Brathay in its work with disadvantaged young people". Marathon participant 2011

  • Fundraising request

We recognise that in the current difficult economic climate raising sponsorship from family, friends, colleagues and your local community can be challenging. All we are asking is that runners do what they can to make some contribution to support Brathay’s cause.

Every £1 you raise in sponsorship will go towards helping those young people most in need. All contributions, large or small, will be greatly appreciated.

We can’t do it without supporters like you – thank you!
