We are counting down to the start of the Brathay 10 in 10 this Friday when 13 endurance runners will start the first of 10 marathons in 10 days culminating in the Brathay Windermere Marathon. Each of these runners has their own inspirational story to tell about their endurance running, training and marathons. This year's runners include Steve Edwards who recently set a world record completing his 500th marathon in an average time of sub 3.30.
Brathay's Staffing Officer Alyson Knowles is taking on the challenge for the second year; read her inspirational blog and marvel at how many different marathons in different locations she has run as part of her preparation!
Last year's youngest participant Adam Holland 23, is back for more this year. Adam set a world record at the 2009 10 in 10 so we will be watching with excitement again this year.
Newcomer to the 10 in 10 28 year old Naomi Prasad already has an impressive marathon history which was acknowledged by her recent 30 under 30 talent award by Square Mile magazine.
Anna Finn, 33, is another record breaking 10 in 10 runner having recently become the youngest female to run 100 marathons.
Every day for 10 days the runners will set off from Brathay Hall, Ambleside at 10.15, cheered by enthusiastic members of the Brathay team, to run the Windermere marathon course come rain or shine. If you are in the area (check out the marathon route) between 7-16th May, be sure to look out for the runners and give them a big cheer.
We'll be producing a daily video diary detailing the fortunes of the 10 in 10 runners so be sure to follow their achievements by checking this site daily. Finally, don't miss our Open Day on Sunday 16th May, the day of the marathon.
